Hello...
Hi, I’m Ali. I’m a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited counsellor, working transpersonally, creatively, and somatically. I support clients to reconnect with the wisdom of the body, weaving together counselling, art therapy, and shamanic practice, and offering a warm, empathic, and non-judgemental space.
It’s an honour to support people on their personal and creative journeys, and I work with children, young people, and adults, supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing through a person-centred and transpersonal approach. Arts-based counselling can help to reduce anxiety, build confidence, and support focus and engagement.
My shamanic lineage is rooted in the Q’ero traditions of the High Andes of Peru, and this underpins the way I hold space — with care, integrity, and a deep respect for each person’s path.
Alongside my client work, I hold regular shamanic and creative workshops, ceremonies, and healing circles, as well as one-to-one healing.
Therapy with me...
My therapy practice is grounded in creating a clear, safe, and held container, where a deep, non-judgemental listening space can gently unfold.
I work with adults, using creative, transpersonal, and integrative approaches within arts counselling to support clients in accessing their inner world in a way that feels safe and non-threatening.
I take a holistic approach, and where appropriate, may work alongside other professionals to support each person within their wider context.
Creative and shamanic approaches can help give form to feelings and experiences that are difficult to express in words. They work with the body’s innate wisdom and the imagination, allowing deeper layers of the self to be explored and expressed through creativity and, where appropriate, journeying.
This can support a gentle release of what may be held, and a rebalancing towards greater ease, clarity, and well-being.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes.
Experience
I have over 20 years of experience working within education, supporting vulnerable children, young people, and adults across primary, secondary, and higher education. My roles have included SEN tutor (crafts), artist-in-residence, youth group leader, and school counsellor.
I am a fully insured and accredited member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold a PGCE, as well as a Level 7 City & Guilds Certificate in Transpersonal Counselling from the Tobias School of Art and Therapy.
I have been in private practice since 2018, working with adults, and have been practising as a shamanic practitioner since 2009. I also offer clinical supervision, supporting other practitioners in their work.
Areas of Expertise
I specialise in using arts counselling with children, young people, and families within the neurodivergent community, who may be experiencing attachment issues, generational trauma, PTSD, autism, bullying, self-harm, challenging behaviour, developmental delay, anger, and anxiety.
I am experienced in working within the framework of support plans and EHCPs, and in collaborating with the wider network of support around each individual.
Alongside this, I run a range of circles and hold a particular depth in ancestral healing work. I also offer both online and in-person shamanic practitioner training, as well as one-to-one energy work sessions.
If you need a specialist, I am able to offer therapy to people who are affected by Neurodivergence, Learning Disability
