Experience
I have 15 years’ experience working across schools, colleges, university and charity sector, supporting students. Sometimes students got stuck, or in the way of themselves despite being on their chosen path of further or higher education they had worked SO hard to get into! I decided to learn more about how to work and support ourselves when our stuff got in the way, or more specifically when our thoughts and behaviours work against us.
5 years’ ago, I retrained and studied Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and since then offered counselling and CBT to many people that have been brave to reach out when life's inevitable challenges have come along. I continue to work in education, supporting and training trainee counselling students, this keeps me fresh, up to date and always learning and growing! I have vast experience in providing counselling support for students and staff working in education, and in the private and voluntary sector counselling people aged 13-78!
Areas of Expertise
Anxiety: Ever feel like anxiety is putting the brakes on your life? Maybe you're passing up on things you'd love to do, or dodging certain situations just to avoid that anxious feeling? You know that nagging voice in your head that keeps going "What if... what if... what if..."? You're not alone in this, trust me.
Stress often shows as physical symptoms first (for example: muscle tension and pain; headaches; dizziness; sleep disturbance or high blood pressure) and if ongoing or left unchecked can trigger or worsen many serious health problems.
Low Mood: Feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Negative thinking patterns like "I'm no good at anything," or "Things will never get better." You’ve maybe stopped doing things you enjoy or give a sense of achievement? Low mood can make even small problems seem unsurmountable.
Major Life Transitions: No matter how these changes have landed with you, they can be tough to handle, but help is on hand.
