Hello, I’m Elizabeth and welcome to my profile page.

Taking the therapy journey is a big decision, but one that will have big consequences, helping you to feel better about yourself, and helping you to grow in ways that will help you navigate the difficulties of your life with greater confidence and awareness. Whatever you may be struggling with, it is never too late to get help & begin the journey of change. Remember that even in hard concrete, there can be a crack, & in that crack something green, even a flower, can grow.

I am a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience & am a Clinical Associate at The Clearing, Newcastle. I work with young people, adults, couples & families.

The first session with me is half price, and currently I am only able to offer online or telephone sessions.

Therapy with me...

Therapy with me will help you to become more resilient & less at the mercy of what life throws at you. Through it, you will become more aware of the conscious and often unconscious patterns, thoughts and feelings that shape your life and character, both negative and positive.

I will help you to express these difficulties and to understand yourself more, and by doing so, help to shift your perspectives & open up other possibilities for your life and relationships. Inevitably, the therapy journey with alter your life in meaningful ways, for the better, for you and for those who you share your life with.

Whether it be for short term solution focused work or longer term depth therapy, my aim is to promote the self-compassion, understanding and acceptance you will need for a healthy, meaningful, and flourishing life.

Experience

I have worked in a variety of different settings including a secondary care psychiatric hospital in Boston, USA and a UK private fostering agency. I have been offering private therapy to individuals, couples & families at The Clearing for over 10 years. During this time I have supported people to overcome a wide range of difficulties from depression & anxiety, through to longstanding eating disorders & relationship issues.

Areas of Expertise

I have particular expertise in working with neurodiversity issues including autism, ADHD and related learning differences and challenges, trauma, self-harm, fertility (infertility) issues and support around miscarriages, women’s health, bereavement and loss, and anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties and finding meaning and purpose in life, generally.

I have a unique affinity with clients who work in University settings, such as Academics, having worked with many through the years, who ‘find’ me and like to work with me! I have been treating many kinds of people, from all kinds of backgrounds, for many years, and I have a great deal of knowledge and experience in all facets of mental health.

If you need a specialist, I am able to offer therapy to people who are affected by Neurodivergence, Learning Disability
