Hello...
I’m Grace Quantock, an anti-oppressive psychotherapeutic counsellor, writer and advocate. I have an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice, with a focus on online somatic work, and a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling. I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I work particularly with people whose bodies and lives are deemed complex: people living with disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, grief, medical trauma, complex and intergenerational trauma, and multiple marginalised identities.
My work explores how we can live well with pain, illness and trauma without disembodiment, burnout or blame.
Therapy with me...
I offer client-led, humanistic and integrative psychotherapeutic counselling, drawing on psychodynamic, humanistic, transpersonal and somatic approaches. My practice is intersectional, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and LGBTIAQ+ affirmative.
The therapeutic hour is a space where you do not have to take care of anyone else’s needs. We can explore where you are struggling, understand patterns and difficulties, and work towards ways of living that feel more possible and fulfilling.
I work online via Signal or phone, asynchronously via secure Signal messaging, and offer some in-person Covid-cautious indoor and outdoor sessions in South Wales.
I offer a sliding scale, currently £75–£137 for new clients, alongside a limited number of lower-fee, Pay What You Can and free places. The lower-fee and free places are currently full.
Experience
I have over 15 years’ experience providing therapeutic support, psychoeducation and advocacy to people with complex bodies and lives, through 1:1 work, groups, courses, workshops and writing.
Before private practice, I worked in the third sector supporting people with serious and life-limiting illness, then as a counsellor within bereavement and NHS-linked mental health services.
I have substantial experience working with disabled and neurodivergent clients, including people with complex or overlapping neurodivergent profiles, as well as LGBTIAQ+ people and people living at multiple intersections of marginalisation. This includes work with twice-exceptional, multiply exceptional and people identifying as formerly gifted adults.
My practice is trauma-informed, with particular experience in complex trauma, sexual violence, medical trauma, grief and bereavement.
Areas of Expertise
I specialise in complex trauma and otherness: the impact of living in bodies, identities and communities shaped by ableism, sanism, racism, heteronormativity and other forms of prejudice and oppression.
Particular areas of interest include disability and chronic illness, neurodivergence, medical trauma, grief, LGBTIAQ+ identities, complex and intergenerational trauma, and the relationship between body, identity and meaning. I also support some clients around twice-exceptionality, multiple exceptionality and experiences of being formerly gifted.
My training includes humanistic and integrative counselling, psychodynamic, Gestalt, mindfulness and inclusive somatic approaches. My work is also influenced by feminist Jungian practice, myth and story, including the work of Marion Woodman, Marion Dunlea and Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estés.
I aim to work in ways that are culturally responsive, non-coercive and attentive to both personal experience and wider systems of power.
If you need a specialist, I am able to offer therapy to people who are affected by Neurodivergence, Psychosis, Schizophrenia
