Hello...
I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor and writer. I’m accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have an MA in psychotherapy and counselling practice. I work with people who are exploring how to live well with pain, illness, and complex trauma without disembodiment or burnout.
Therapy with me...
I offer an integrative counselling approach.
I can support you with:
Grief and bereavement
Anxiety
Depression and low mood
Work-related stress
Living well with disability
Concerns as a carer
…and lots more.
I offer a sliding scale and have a limited number of low-fee places available.
I offer counselling sessions via the secure video call platform Zoom.
I welcome LGBTIAQ+ clients and people with multiple marginalised, minoritised or oppressed identities.
Experience
I am experienced working with disabled and neurodivergent clients. I work in a neuro-affirmative and LGBTIAQ+ affirmative practice.
My practice is trauma-informed and I have experience working with complex trauma, particularly sexual violence.
Before working in private practice, I worked in the third sector, supporting people with serious and life-limiting illnesses. I was later a counsellor for a bereavement charity and a mental health provider supporting NHS patients.
As a disabled, neurodivergent woman, I have both lived and professional experience of neurodiversity.
Areas of Expertise
I specialise in working with complex trauma and otherness - whether that otherness arises from ableism, sanism, racism or other forms of prejudice. My training has drawn on the work of Marion Woodman and Marion Dunlea, Jungian analysts working with the body and the work of Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estés, through myth and story. I've trained in inclusive somatic approaches to working with bodies, including when our bodies are in pain and/or when we are disconnected from them. My training includes humanistic, integrative, psychodynamic, Gestalt and mindfulness.
If you need a specialist, I am able to offer therapy to people who are affected by Neurodivergence, Psychosis, Schizophrenia
