Hello...
Hi, I’m Mel. I am a Level 7 qualified CBT Therapist specialising in neuro-affirming support for children, young people, and adults.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, OCD, or depression, I provide a therapeutic space that respects how your unique brain works. As a clinician with lived experience of neurodivergence, I move away from 'fixing' and toward understanding. In our sessions, there is no pressure to mask; eye contact is not required, and fidgeting or moving to focus is always welcome.
I specialise in 'The Sticky Brain', helping those with OCD and anxiety break free from repetitive loops using evidence-based CBT tailored to sensory and cognitive needs. For parents, I offer a collaborative partnership to help untangle the complexities of supporting a neurodivergent child.
My approach is grounded in safety, autonomy, and warmth. Let’s work together to build a toolkit that actually works for your life, on your terms.
Therapy with me...
In my practice, the traditional clinical feel is replaced by a collaborative, creative, and sensory-kind environment. I believe that therapy only works when you feel safe enough to be your authentic self.
A Neuro-Affirming Space:
My approach is led by your needs. There is no requirement to sit still, make eye contact, or mask your natural way of being. Fidgets are encouraged, and we can use various ways to communicate, including drawing, typing, or visual aids, if talking feels overwhelming.
Specialist CBT:
We will use CBT to explore your Sticky Brain loops or anxiety cycles. This isn’t about being fixed; it’s about understanding your system and building a toolkit that respects your energy and sensory profile. For parents, I offer a partnership grounded in my 7 years of CAMHS experience, helping you support your child in a way that feels sustainable for the whole family.
Together, we’ll move at your pace to find more ease and confident in your daily life.
Experience
I am a highly experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 7 years of specialised practice within the NHS CAMHS. During this time, I have worked extensively with children, young people, and their families, navigating complex presentations of anxiety, OCD, and depression.
My clinical foundation is built on a Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychological Therapy, which allows me to provide high-intensity CBT interventions. I am particularly specialised in working with neurodivergent individuals, integrating a deep understanding of ADHD and Autism into every session.
Beyond my clinical credentials, I bring lived experience of neurodivergence to my work. This unique perspective ensures that my practice remains truly neuro-affirming, focusing on sensory needs, cognitive styles, and the removal of the pressure to mask. I don't just understand the theory; I understand the daily reality of a "sticky brain" and am committed to helping you find a way forward.
Areas of Expertise
I offer specialist, high-intensity CBT for children, young people, and adults, with a focus on neuro-affirming care. My areas of expertise include:
OCD & The Sticky Brain: Helping you untangle intrusive thoughts and break the cycle of compulsions using specialised ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) tailored for neurodivergent minds.
Anxiety Disorders: Supporting those navigating Generalised Anxiety (excessive worry), Social Anxiety, and Panic Disorder, with a focus on sensory-friendly strategies.
Depression & Low Mood: Working collaboratively to rediscover a sense of connection and energy through behavioral activation that respects your unique capacity.
Specialist adaptations for ADHD and Autistic individuals, removing the pressure to mask and focusing on self-advocacy and sensory regulation.
Partnering with parents to support their children’s mental health while navigating the complexities of the education and healthcare system.
If you need a specialist, I am able to offer therapy to people who are affected by Neurodivergence
