I'm Melanie, an American living in the Republic of Ireland. I'm autistic, dyspraxic, and queer, proudly bringing my identities into the room with me. I am here to be your ally, guide, and advocate in finding your answers.

Therapy with me...

I work fully online using the non-directive humanistic method. My specialty is in building relationships, facilitating exploration, and creating a space where you can find your own answers. In our sessions I will ask questions, give feedback, share context from the community, and sometimes compassionately challenge. We will co-create the therapeutic process.

Experience

I have worked with over 100 clients, specialising in neurodivergence and queerness. I trained in LGBTQ+ counselling with the Trevor Project out of West Hollywood, California where I supported LGBTQ+ youth living with suicidality. I also trained in counselling skills with Courage to Caregivers and SeekHealing, a carer's support organisation and substance use recovery organisation in the United States. I went on to work with content moderators who work in social media, supporting them through crisis and career stressors. Presently I am proud to work primarily with neurodivergent and queer people, as part of a neuroaffirming practice of fully neurodivergent and queer therapists. I bring my whole life of lived experience as a queer autistic person.

Areas of Expertise

I specialise in the intersection between queerness and neuroqueerness, especially autism and how it interacts with other identities. I'm passionate about intersectional care and a systemic view of mental health, to include antiracism and anticapitalism. I am studying decolonial therapy and trauma therapy. I have been described as a lefty therapist and one who "gets it".

BSc in Psychology from Arizona State University - First Class Honours

MSc in Psychological Science from the University of Limerick - Second Class Honours
