Hello...
I’m Nerissa, an experienced psychotherapist working with adults, children, and adolescents. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. Many of the adults I work with feel overwhelmed or disconnected, navigating grief, burnout, relationship challenges, or long-standing patterns they want to shift. I have a particular interest in supporting people living with chronic illness, those who have experienced sexual abuse, and individuals who struggle with self-harm. My approach is trauma-informed, integrative, and rooted in compassion, creativity, and cultural sensitivity. Alongside my work with adults, I have over a decade of experience supporting children, adolescents, and their families. My approach with younger clients is playful and creative, helping them express themselves and feel safe in the therapy space. I also offer specialist support to those impacted by pregnancy and baby loss, an area close to my heart.
Therapy with me...
Therapy with me is relational, reflective, and shaped by what feels right for you. I offer a calm, steady presence where you can bring whatever feels important, whether that’s confusion, pain, anger, or numbness. Together, we can make space for what’s been held in for too long.
Our work might involve talking things through, using creative materials, or exploring patterns that no longer serve you. However we work, I aim to support you in feeling more connected to yourself and more resourced to face life’s challenges.
Experience
I’ve worked in schools, charities, and private practice, supporting a wide range of emotional needs. I work with anxiety, identity, trauma, neurodiversity, self-harm, and grief, and have specialist training in pregnancy and baby loss. I have extensive experience with both adults and young people, and my practice is always adapted to meet individual needs.
I am also a qualified clinical supervisor and an anti-racism trainer, supporting therapists and organisations to reflect on race, identity, power, and practice. I’m accredited with UKCP and a member of BACP, BAATN, and NCPS.
Areas of Expertise
I work with a wide range of emotional and relational challenges and have particular expertise in:
Chronic illness and its impact on identity and daily life
Childhood sexual abuse and complex trauma
Self-harm and difficulties with emotional regulation
Grief and bereavement, including pregnancy and baby loss
Anxiety, low mood, and burnout
Relationship and attachment issues
Cultural identity, belonging, and racial trauma
Neurodiversity (including ADHD and autism) in both children and adults
I work within a pluralistic framework, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to suit each client’s individual needs and preferences. My practice is integrative, trauma-informed, and shaped by a deep respect for each person’s unique story and way of being in the world.
If you need a specialist, I am able to offer therapy to people who are affected by Neurodivergence
